| Bitdefender Internet Security 2012 Review
Pros: Huge improvement over the beta version. Offers a wide range of new features and its autopilot feature does not demand more input.
Cons: Requires a huge amount of RAM. The interface is white texts on black background that is not so impressive. There are some issues on installation that is rather slow.
Summary:
Overall, it has a clean and easy to navigate interface but the attention to detail may seem to be lacking in this version.

Bitdefender Internet Security
2012 provides a number of predefined scanning
types such as Quick Scan, Custom Scan, Vulnerability
Scan, Full Scan and Rescue Mode. Although you
cannot save your scans, it does offer a list
of custom scans that are sorted by date where
you can select and run later. The firewall option
on the first interface offers quick access to
network details and firewall settings. You can
choose to turn on or off the firewall with a
press of a button. The Network details allow
you to change the type of network you connect
to and the type your choice will determine how
the firewall sets different application and
network rules.
Its firewall also offers sufficient
controls but average protection in the default
settings. You can also find activity log and
ability to raise alert levels if you turn it
to paranoid mode. It includes an Intrusion Detection
System that is turned off by default. You can
achieve better results though if you enable
Intrusion Detection System. It is important
that you understand the type of network you
connect and how you are going to change the
firewall setting. There is a room to clarify
or improve some verbiage used in describing
the various firewall settings.
It offers on access scanning
options which include the items you expect.
You can select the strength of the scan relating
to the amount required system resources. The
active virus control allows you to choose how
real time scanning is being handled. You can
set the active scanning into Aggressive, Normal
or Permissive. The default selection is Normal
and if you choose aggressive or permissive,
it may result to more or less alerts respectively.
The search advisor browser add was improved
in this version and it appears to function in
major browsers.
The latest Bitdefender Internet
Security version is yet to be tested, though
it already showed some impressive points on
it on access and real time scans that have already
been proven effective.
