Pros: Impressive lab test results.
It offers the best anti-phishing, social network
protection, smart and silent firewall. It also
features decent parental controls, system tune
up and online backup.
Cons: Average
test scores on malware blocking and removal.
You may notice some strange elements in the
parental control system.
Summary:
Overall, Bitdefender Total Security 2013 contains
all of the features you would want to have in
a mega suite while it doing its job silently.
It has good components and great phishing protection.
It is perfect choice for those who need protection
without any hassle.
Review:
The user friendly interface
of Total Security 2013 is targeted at home users
and it has been given with an overhaul to ensure
that it is more user-friendly. It is also equipped
with some key feature to provide better protection,
making it less intrusive. Home screen is divided
into for main sections that cover Firewall,
Antivirus, Antispam and Update. Clicking on
any of these will you into another menu where
every option is labeled clearly with simple
on or off button right beside it.
There are also additional
headings that can be rearranged in accordance
to your preferred home screen. These include
Safebox for online backup when there are changes
detected, Parental Control, Tune-up that will
remove unnecessary files and Privacy Control
that monitors only data protection and provides
encryption and detects fraud and phishing on
internet browsers.
Another new and great addition
is the social net working security feature that
monitors links that come from Facebook and highlights
that are suspicious. The new Virtualized Browser
isolates the browser effective from the operating
to fend off threats online. But the most remarkable
feature of this package is the Auto Pilot feature
that appears right at the top of the home page.
With only a single click, you can get continuous,
silent protection without having to be consulted
every minute with annoying pop-ups that will
notify you of suspicious activity.
If threats like rootkits can
be dug out from the operating system, the computer
is going to be rebooted in Rescue Mode while
the problem is being treated. An area wherein
Bitdefender remains a little thin is in inspecting
instant message since only the Yahoo Messenger
is covered.
Bitdefender also performed
well in heading off another conventional bugbear
with security software and that is the system
slowdowns that typically occur when scanning.
Bitdefender Total Security 2013 includes a Scan
Dispatcher in which the schedule system scans
only when the usage of resource drops at a certain
low level.
Bitdefender Antivirus

also integrates Facebook protection and remote
monitoring as well as configuration.Cons:
Takes a little time to install. Its score malware
blocking and removal tests are not the best

device missing for most links.
Summary:
Bitdefender Antivirus 2013 is packed with lots
of features you won’t find with others. It is
one of the best antiphishing tools and it is
still a great choice despite the not so impressive
scores in malware tests.
Review:
Bitdefender Antivirus 2013
provides a line of great features at prices
affordable to consumers. It offers social network
security and at the same time provides unmatched
protection from viruses and spyware. One of
the important features it has is anti-phishing
which is crucial if you want to ensure the protection
of your system. Other than phishing, a lot of
people are losing their personal information
to keyloggers and some of them fall into victims
of popup disguise and viruses. This antivirus
software is equipped with the best features
that can help you avoid all these hassles.
If you have teens in your
home, it is imperative to give them some sort
of protection when using the internet. This
software can provide security for social networking
sites and instant messaging. Its silent security
features improve the level of protection that
you want to have in order for them to browse
safely. The Virtual Browser is one of the most
impressive features in this software. It can
isolate the browser you are using during virus
clean up. That way, you need not to worry about
someone peeping in your web surfing history.
This is a great feature for computer users who
usually transact online.
Included in its array
of features is the Rescue Mode which places
your system only to the safest environments
for cleanups and rebooting. This is a very important
feature that can help prevent your information
for being stolen by a virus. There are some
viruses that can actually shut down your system
while they are transmitting your information
to their creator. A lot of people don’t
realize that when they leave their computers
unused for longer period of time, the system
could fall as victims to inadequate performance
issues. Selecting this software will allow system
checks on a regular basis. This is a new feature
of Bitdefender Antivirus 2013 that intensifies
the levels of security you can obtain from your
home computer system.
Bitdefender Internet
Security 2013 Review
Pros: Huge improvement over
the beta version. Offers a wide range of new
features and its autopilot feature does not
demand more input.
Cons: Works
best with newer computers. The interface is
white texts on black background that is not
so impressive. Installation can be slow on older
machines.
Summary:
Overall, it has a clean and easy to navigate
interface but the attention to detail may seem
to be lacking in this version.
Review:
Bitdefender Internet Security
2013 provides a number of predefined scanning
types such as Quick Scan, Custom Scan, Vulnerability
Scan, Full Scan and Rescue Mode. Although you
cannot save your scans, it does offer a list
of custom scans that are sorted by date where
you can select and run later. The firewall option
on the first interface offers quick access to
network details and firewall settings. You can
choose to turn on or off the firewall with a
press of a button. The Network details allow
you to change the type of network you connect
to and the type your choice will determine how
the firewall sets different application and
network rules.
Its firewall also offers sufficient
controls but average protection in the default
settings. You can also find activity log and
ability to raise alert levels if you turn it
to paranoid mode. It includes an Intrusion Detection
System that is turned off by default. You can
achieve better results though if you enable
Intrusion Detection System. It is important
that you understand the type of network you
connect and how you are going to change the
firewall setting. There is a room to clarify
or improve some verbiage used in describing
the various firewall settings.
It offers on access scanning
options which include the items you expect.
You can select the strength of the scan relating
to the amount required system resources. The
active virus control allows you to choose how
real time scanning is being handled. You can
set the active scanning into Aggressive, Normal
or Permissive. The default selection is Normal
and if you choose aggressive or permissive,
it may result to more or less alerts respectively.
The search advisor browser add was improved
in this version and it appears to function in
major browsers.
The latest Bitdefender Internet
Security version is yet to be tested, though
it already showed some impressive points on
it on access and real time scans that have already
been proven effective.
